Hi, well, my story is like others on this board and it appears as though my husband is now having a fear of commitment, feeling trapped, and has lost the butterflies "in love" feelings.
I have managed to get him to agree to go to counselling and we started last Friday. My question is how do I know if this is the right person? She did not seem very encouraging to me - basically said that since he is having most of the problems we will have to 'wait and see' - see if he opens up, gives us more to work with.
Thanks

[This message has been edited by Alice29 (edited 03-30-99).]

Alice,
There's a section on this website about "choosing the right counselor" http://www.marriagebuilders.com/graphic/mbi7100_counselor.html . Try looking at that first.
If your counselor is doing a 'psychoanalytic' approach (dredging up past issues not specifically related to the marriage), then you should find someone else (IMO). You want to be working with a solution-based therapist (a behavioralist).
I've used the phone counseling at Marriage Builders and I think very highly of it. It's under the "Counsel" link at the top of the page.
