I have been in a relationship with a wonderful man for two years. We started off as good friends, then dated, and now although we have separate houses, we spend every night together. He is my best friend and I am his, and most of the time we are totally happy. But there is one lingering problem. He dated another woman, very seriously, for nineteen years. Although they spoke of marriage, it never happened. They parted amicably. Then, a couple months after we started dating, she started phoning and writing him letters. He writes back. He says they're friends, but I'm having a hard time with this. They meet and talk on internet chat rooms quite frequently. This is the woman that shared his home for nine of the nineteen years. The former love of his life. Am I ridiculous to be bothered by this? Please note that I am NOT at ALL a jealous person otherwise, although I fear that may have something to do with this. I'd just be interested to know what someone else thinks of this.
Thank you so much.

More on the subject...
What I forgot to mention is that he says he still loves her. He says he thinks about her all the time. I think that's a big part of why this worries me.

Samchap -
The fact pure and simple that he still loves her should make you worry. He loves her. Thats the bottom line. Hard for us to think of - but you can't make him stop loving her - it has to come from him.
