My wife hates me to be on the internet because she fears I'm making connections with other women. I do use ICQ and have chatted with people from around the world. She wants me to do something about it. Do I just stop useing the computer and the Net?
I am a very faithful husband and love her very much but she doesn't believe a word I say in my own defence.
How can I build the trust??
Thanks

Eric8,
Well from a womens point of view, it would be somewhat intimidating to have your husband talk with other women around the world. It seems to be leaving your wife feeling insecure. Sometimes husbands can be spending too much time on the internet, instead of spending that time with their wife. Is she getting equal time with you? Even though you mentioned that your a very faithful husband, I would suguest not talking with other women on the internet if its causing a problem in your marriage. If your using the interent maturly and not abusing your marriage, then I dont think it would be nessesary to stop using it. You may want to cut back on your time using it,if your on it too much. There is alot of Internet Flirting that goes on these days, and affairs over the internet happen all the time.Even though your not flirting, someone may be flirting with you...Just be sensitive to your wifes feelings. I'am not saying that its wrong to talk with someone of the opposite sex over the internet,it can be very interesting to talk with someone who lives in a different country, asking them what their country is like..but when the conversation begins to get personal, than thats where you need to draw the line.So the bottom line is...continue building trust with your wife, and be sensitive and understanding to her feelings, in time she may feel more trusting and secure..but for now be understanding........violet1
[This message has been edited by violet1 (edited 04-05-99).]
[This message has been edited by violet1 (edited 04-05-99).]

As an extensive Internet user myself, I must agree with the other replies. I have an increasing circle of friends (all also women, as I am) that I know only over the internet. I have also in the past had a few short-lived correspondences with men, and to one degree or another, they often end up as demi-flirtations, and must be stopped.
As far as hobbies are concerned, well, that's true also. I am an online film critic and fan fiction writer, and I've just set up my own site. These hobbies could eat up ALL my free time. I've had some marital problems of late, and even though it means less time on these projects, I sit at night and watch TV with my H, even if it bores me to death -- because it means a lot to him. He usually goes to sleep early, so I do my writing then.
If your Internet use is doing damage to your marriage, then get off of ICQ, or include your wife in your conversations. Or decide that that's more important and be honest with yourself.
But you have to make compromises.
