It is important to note that this charity case never gives anything to anybody, he only takes. My husband thinks it's okay to give presents every year to someone who has never given us a single thing. What do you think of this?

If we only give to those that reciprocate is what we give really a gift? The most distaseful thing about Christmas to me is giving gifts to people that already have so much. I find the most joy in giving to people who have real needs and can not reciprocate. It isn't a gift if we are expecting something in return!
This "charity" case you mention sounds like a he is sick and all the people that are trying to "help" him are probably just enabling him to continue in a very unhealthy life style. The best gift your husband could give this individual is to pay for counseling for his many emotional problems.
