My wife and I have some problems. We have only been married for 7 months, and have been together for four years. I made a mistake..I wasn't unfaithful or did I physically abuse her..I went to Florida for job interviews, she thought I wasn't coming back.. Her parents told her to file "papers" She said that she is sorry that she ever did. I miss my wife and I love her deeply, but how can I show her that I have changed for the better, when her parents keep getting in the way?? I don't hate the in-laws, we got along fine before. We have talked about what we want out of this marriage..We cried, discussed, cried some more, laughed, loved and held each other. But her parents keep giving her ill-advice. I'm not even welcome at their home right now..I asked her mom if I could come up and, face-to-face with them, and tell them why I went to Florida. I love my wife. I told her that I have called several marriage counselor's. I found one, and we are both supposed to meet with her this Saturday. At the time, she said it was a good idea. But now, I don't know if she'll go. I miss my wife. I know I have to prove myself to her, but how do I do that, when I can't even see her?? We haven't talked since that Monday night. I told her that I would give her the time and space that she asked for, but how much time and space??? If too much time goes by, I don't what will happen. This is tearing me up! What can I do??

I read your posting three times, and still felt like there were holes in your story. Why didn't you tell your wife where you were going and what you were doing? Put in her position, I think you would be pretty upset, too. It sounds like communication needs some work, if your relationship can be put back together. Not only the long talks, but the short informational conversations, like where you're going, when you'll be back, meet me here, etc. You know what I mean? Why is she living with her parents, and not in your home? Your seeing a therapist sounds like a very good idea. Good luck.
