It sounds like there are two issues. One is becoming born again as a Christian. I am one of those myself, so I cannot give any un-biased advice on that.
The other is the relationship with the woman who wants to sponsor your brother-in-law. If this is in any way improper, your sister-in-law is right to object. It may be that there is a time commitment involved in joining whatever church she wants to sponsor your brother-in-law, and that your sister-in-law resents the time spent.
In either case, might it not be a good idea for your sister-in-law to accompany your brother-in-law to the sponsor's home? She could even present it as a sign of interest in the new religion. Thus she knows where he is and what he is doing, she can show her husband that she respects his choices, and if they refuse to allow her to be present, well, at least she has another piece of information to use in deciding on what to do next.
I will say I think the idea of women sponsoring men is one which does not always turn out well.
My $.02 cents worth.
Regards,
rs0522

Can you get your SIL to post to these boards? She could get direct feedback for the problem.

dsmini,
Read this article by Dr. Harley on conversion conflicts. Seems that it directly speaks to this problem. Print it out for your SIL if you agree that it may apply.
------------------
A true friend is one who not only is willing to love us the way we are, but is able to leave us better than he found us.
