My husband and I disagree about my shopping. I do like to shop quite a bit and I also work in a profession in which it is important to maintain a stylish appearance. I spend approximately $1000-$2000 a month (sometimes more) on shoes, handbags and clothing. He maintains that I have enough items in my closet and couldn't possibly need anymore new things. To avoid further conflict, I've resorted to shopping online and have purchases sent directly to my office so he doesn't have to see the bags come into the house.
How can I make him understand that I enjoy shopping (like he enjoys golfing), it's a part of what I need to do for m y job (like his golf) and that he shouldn't have a problem with it?

Welcome to MB. It's great that you are both posting here and interested in improving your marriage. Read up on POJA, ENs, and Lovebusters. You both seem to be having difficulty in all three aspects just based on the two short posts that seem to be related in this forum. You both need to find a way to POJA (come into enthusiastic agreement) on the shopping. That agreement will be unique to the two of you based on finances and such. Maybe your H (husband) won't have as much of a problem if you are shopping online. Maybe if you two can set a budget for the shopping you will find a zone of mutual agreement. No one here can say whether your shopping habits are reasonable or not...you need to listen to your H and he needs to listen to you. Work it out together using the concepts in this web site such as POJA and Negotiation.
Take care. Happy New Year. Smile
