I would like to hear some input from people who have attended Dr. Harley's Marriage Builders Weekend. My husband & I are struggling through a difficult time; we're both interested in attending the weekend seminar, but it would be very expensive (most likely cross country airfare, hotel stay, plus seminar cost). Is it worth the money? I would like to hear more about it from people who have attended. Did it help you? Would you do it again?

Thanks,
Jen

jepasc,

My H and I went to the MB seminar last Sept. It wasn't easy for us financially either. It ended up costing aprx 1600.00 for travel exp., the room, the seminar itself, and the food. We really didn't "get out and do anything" while we were down there. The only getting out we did was to drive a little and see what the place looked like.

It was a very rough weekend and brought back up a lot of hard feelings that were between us. To start with I felt like it was money wasted, but with time, and work, and some help from answered questions since we've been back, things look some better.

The issues we have are not infidelity, but run to the root core of who we are - the damage that has been done in the marriage. These are just as hard to overcome as an affair. Especially if the two of you have forgotten how to have any fun together - we have. We are having to learn how again. It isn't easy. It takes a lot of work on both parts. But if we hadn't gone, we wouldn't be working on a marriage, we would be trying to get over a divorce. Which would you prefer to do?

Thanks for the input RMW. My husband & I also are not facing issues of infidelity; however we have lost our foundation of trust. We want to resolve the issues between us & find the happiness in our marriage that we had when we first got married....when we loved being together, had fun together, shared life together, and trusted each other.

Do you know if there will be new dates/locations released later in the year? Or will the January dates in Florida & the May dates in CA be the only seminars this year? It's too late for us to get in for the Florida seminar, and CA would cost a fortune since we live in MD!!

Thanks again for your response.

Hi,

I would highly recommend the week end, especially if both of you are willing to do the work involved. It is not just the weekend, there is follow up work to be done. Not that it is not fun work but it does take take a commitment.

We were able to drive and it worked out great because we used the drive to discuss many of the issues. We are still trying to finish some of the lessons because we would sometimes lose our way.

Also, you will have access to the private weekend session part of the discussion. Dr. Harley has replied to every post I have made there within 24 hours. It has been very helpful.

You also receive books, tapes and workbooks for the follow-up.

All in all, very worth it.
