Right now I am a stay at home dad with a house, 2 dogs, and a 15-month-old daughter. Oh, and I go to school FULL time. My wife travels for a living is gone Sunday evening through Friday evening. She has been doing this for 5 years. My contract ended 6 months ago with the Marine Corps in which I served for 4 years. I am planning on becoming a police officer and have applied to many departments. I am currently in the testing process with the California Highway Patrol. We live in NC and have for about 5 years. We live in a military town, so the jobs here are horrible. The problem is that my wife does not want to give up her career and if we move to CA then she will have to quit the company that she is currently employed by. If I do get a position with the CHP the academy is 6 months long and she said that she would stay in NC. I can't pass it if she does that. I have weekends off and need to see my daughter and wife. I could not go 6 months without seeing them. The problem is that she does not want to quit her company and she complains that it would be her that would have to juggle the house, dogs and our daughter. Which I have been doing on top of full time student. Does anyone have anything suggestions???? I AM LOSING MY HAIR!!!

Hi Cory,
I think I know what town your in. In the current job market I can see why she doesnt want to give up her job. Have you looked into a job in law enforcement around there?

That is a good point. She wouldnt want to leave. Great state. What does she do? If it involves that much travel she should be able to do it from another location.
