My husband, E., and I began our relationship while we were still married to others. This is my 2nd marriage; I am his 3rd. We've been married 1 1/2 yr's. and been through much and gotten through it. My husband left his wife shortly after our "affair" began. I could not as easily make my decision to leave my husband because of the potential effects on my 9 y/o daughter. My ex and I finally seperated 1 yr. after E. and I started seeing each other. From the very first moment E. and I shared time together, I fell madly, deeply and passionately in love with him. I did not have that kind of love with my first husband.
The problem is that E. is convinced I had a romantic relationship with a male co-worker before I met him. This person was a very close friend, but a buddy, nothing more. I had never been unfaithful in action or thought before I became involved with E. There seems to be nothing I can say or do to convince him otherwise. I know this is in part due to how we came together, but I've resolved that, why can't he. He say's me and my daughter are his life now and that he loves me more than anything. I even on my own, underwent a polygraph exam before we were married to tried to prove to him my honesty and truth. E. is full of anger. His first wife was unfaithful to him with his best friend and he found out from his 5 y/o son. That was 17 years ago. We 've been to a counselor 4 times but haven't returned in the last month because things were going well. It is not going well. Whatever sets him off always ends up being a fight about "him". I really don't know what to do. I want to help E. deal with this; his anger/stress; depression; whatever his problems. I love very much. He is my once in a lifetime love. But each anger outburst robs my "bank" and there is never enough time to make "deposits" before it's overdrawn. I don't want to lose any more love for my husband and I want him to find his love that I know he has for me. What do I do. I'm hurting terribly.

Hi,
I don't have much to offer to help. You do see the logic of E's distrust and suspicion, don't you? Not just that his first wife cheated on him, but that you cheated on your husband and left your husband to be with E. That's not a very good foundation for trust in a marriage.
E is probably thinking "She did it to her H, now we're married, she could do it again to me."
Keep up with the counseling is all I can suggest.
------------------
Belle, Domestic Goddess
