Bria:

Have you read Dr. Harley's advice regarding living together before marriage?

Regarding your current situation, I would suggest getting out of the relationship. I used to sleep with the guys I dated. Then I realized that I wasn't sure if they were dating me because they really wanted me as a partner, or if I was pretty cool to hang out with and I gave them sex. They would say they loved me and all that, but we usually ended up breaking up anyway because they couldn't make a committment.

After coming to that realization (that wasn't the only one -the main thing was I realized I needed to give my life to the Lord), I decided to keep my relationships celibate. I dated guys (mainly from my church) that way for about 5 years. I got married last year to a wonderful, godly man who was as committed to a pure relationship as I was.

Bria, I can't tell you how good it made me feel to know that he loved me for who I was, not for what I gave him in bed. I knew he wanted me for ME! I didn't have to talk him into a committment. He told me he loved me first (with guys I slept with, it was usually the other way around because I would get emotionally attached when we would start sleeping together.) We discussed getting married only one time. We didn't have to keep discussing it. We knew the relationship was right and that it was blessed. He proposed to me in a very special way (and it was a total surprise!) At our wedding, he cried as I walked down the aisle. He loves my daughter and pledged to love her as his very own, and he has done that. We have been married for a while now, and while no marriage is perfect, I have to say that ours is great.

My husband loved me enough to wait for marriage to have sex (and our wedding night was DEFINITELY worth the wait!) People say they love each other, but actions speak louder than words. Love is a decision, not a feeling.

There's my 2 cents. I hope they help! Let me know if you want to e-mail!

God bless you,
