I am scheduled to move out by July 1,
and I am taking my computer, the STBX
will have her portable, but my old computer
is not powerful enough for the kids games.
Now, I want to be sure that the kids
have a powerful enough computer to do the modern stuff, I just don't know how or when to give it to them.
Should it be departure gift? Should it be
before then? Should it be after I depart?
Any suggestions.
STBX job requires her to move to a new house
1/2 mile down the road. I am not allowed to move in with her (so far).
thanks

I would suggest giving the kids a new PC before you move. You should be very sure that the kids understand that you are buying the PC for them to solve their needs for a powerful PC for their current games and future endeavors. The kids should be prevented from thinking that the PC is a gift somehow related to the divorce. I think you should sit down with the kids and let them tell you what they will do with the PC and how it will benefit them (like "I want to be able to play games, access the web, and do schoolwork"). This should help you determine what type of package deal you can get. You might want to look for a PC that comes with good technical support (unless your wife is able to solve the technical problems).
Mostly though, if your relationship with your
STBX is on speaking terms, I think you should discuss your desire to purchase this PC and ask her if she has any preferences (like no high end hardware).
Good Luck!
