I read this book recently, and I was wondering if any of the men who post here have read it. I would love to hear your responses and comments.

Parizade,

I haven't read the book, but now I'm curious. What don't "we" want women to know? Would you mind summarizing? (Or is that something women aren't supposed to let men know? [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] )

It was written partly to be funny and shocking, but I think the underlying message is compatible with Dr. Harley's teaching. The book talks alot about men's sexual needs and fantasies and how easy it is for men to stray. Especially men with money and looks. It also talks about what women can do to catch a lying husband and to keep their husbands' faithful.

Dr. Harley's advice on emotional needs is clearer, more intelligently written, and more moral than Smith and Doe's, but the gut wrenching honesty of this book hits home (both of the authors are recovering sex addicts). I think it could be helpful in opening lines of communication between husbands and wives. Especially in helping women understand men's sexual needs.

That's why I'd like to hear from men who post here who have read the book.

No I havent read that book. The mention of the authors being recovered sex addicts makes me nervous based on the tone of most of the threads here that deal with this issue. Exactly what is it that men dont want women to know. Please elaborate so I can decide if I will buy it and read it.

Well, Smith and Doe do recommend that wives indulge all their husbands' sexual requests "unless it's so kinky they need a shrink." So I thought you might appreciate that aspect of the book. You probably wouldn't agree that most men will cheat at every opportunity, but they do make a point that a man's need for sex is not something women should just shrug off.

Don't buy it though. Borrow it from someone.
