I am so tired of seeing these newspaper articles, saying things like most fathers didn't want the divorce (where did they get that info from?), and implying that most non-custodial fathers don't get to see much of their children because their ex-wives won't let them. Yet over and over on this board one reads about yet another father who deserted his children to move in with the OW and often her children, who hardly ever sees his kids, who in many cases resists paying child support.
honey.west said, in Keridwen's thread:

quote:
Frankly, I'm preparing for the time when he gets a new girl, and the possibility my boys may be cast aside again.

It seems like it is near universal, especially when the OW has kids. H moves in with OW, OW quickly tires of his kids, and wants him to be a father to her kids instead, not to mention she wants to minimize his interaction with his W. Almost invariably the H ends up seeing his kids infrequently if at all, and only on the OW's terms.

If only the world really knew about these "fathers"
Being father's day and all....my H went to Cuba with ow and older sons last sunday...supposed to be home today...when I do not know as I was not told where anyone was going...other than by kids"to Cuba" H often travels on vacation with ow..this is the 2nd time he has taken some kids.
The younger 2 told me "we are the only family who do nothing for father's day" I told them I had no idea when their dad was coming home,,,and I had not prevented them from doing anything with their dad. They told me they knew this, but Oh boy did it hurt them..

I think that rather than slam dads, you should replace "father" with "betrayer" or "wandering spouse."
You see a lot on this board and others about women who desert their children to move in with the other man. My wife has done this. She is a month behind in child support and has only been paying for three months. The only reason I have gotten that much is because her wages are garnished.
There are plenty of bad fathers. I was once one myself. But there are also plenty of bad moms. This is not a gender thing. It is a fog thing.
BTW, there is a good article in this weeks TV guide (educational reading material) about a character in a show and his letter to his father. Good reading.

willbok,
Perhaps the worst part is that the kids can no longer spend much time with their father as a family - the older two don't want to, and the younger four are not allowed to visit simultaneously, even on Father's Day.
All that stuff about the children having "two families" after divorce is a bunch of cr**. They are merely guests in her house, guests who can be uninvited if she doesn't want them around.
grandpabri2,
I know there are bad mothers too, but hardly anyone seems to feel sorry for them. No one blames custodial fathers for keeping the children away from their mothers, unless they kidnap them.
