I'm trying to make a really tough decision. I have to make a choice. Do I keep the house at $727.00 a month and give up my car at $327.00 per month or do I keep the car and try to sell the house and pay 400.00 a month rent. I do have a older car a 1986 that I could drive for now. It is the car that my daughter drives but maybe we can find another older car also. Bankrupcy is just around the corner as my H has really overextended us terribly. Any feedback would be great!

Unless you want to move for some other reason, I would try to keep the house. I think I should move to Mn - you can't rent a studio apt here for less than about $500 a month, and a smallish 3 bedroom house would rent for about $1600.

I, too vote to keep the house. Unless you need the car for work, or it creates some other unsurmountable logistical problem.
Brian

Keep the house, build up equity, provide tax relief. Getting rid of the car payment, and getting an old car (I have a 12 yr old honda) also means low insurance rates. I change the oil every 3000 miles and have a mechanic whom I trust who has carte blanche to "keep it going". Much much cheaper.

Keep the house at least you are building equity! All the car does is get you from place to place. I have a 1986 Toyota that does that!

Thanks, I agree, I think it just takes some time to sit back and think out your troubles and your feedback helped alot. Since we just refinanced the house this year we have no equity built up so anything from now on will be mine. We have completely remodled the whole house except for siding it. So I should be set that way for awhile.
Thanks again
Jill
