Since my divorce May 1, I have had lazik surgery for my far-sightedness and will soon undergo another procedure very soon to correct the astigmatism. It feels so great to be able to see without glasses. My self-esteem is rising somewhat.
Also I am planning a trip to Austria in March. I have been quoted a fantastic rate through a friend that's in the local ski club.
Yes, I have spent some of my settlement money but am working full time and also have invested some. Even though I get depressed and angry, I am now able to look ahead.
Would you all care to have an old woman in your company if the weekend in Nashville takes place? I only live 5 hours away, so it's very possible I might show up. Although I don't post on here a lot, I do share some of your pain.
God bless you all!

Martha,
You are more than welcome in Nashville!!!
It's so good to know that you're doing things for you. I think it does help us get our self-esteem back and helps us to heal.
Maybe we'll see ya in Nashville!!
Mitzi [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

Hi Gina. Please tell her that I will try to be there. I may leave on Friday and try to stay somewhere on the way. Then I can get up early on Saturday morning and go. Who knows? I may even fly.
Thanks.
Martha

Martha642
Noticed the thread and had to read a couple of things that caught my eye. Hope you are doing better each and every day. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] Each of us walks and heals on our path after we divorce. It is good to see that self-care is on your agenda and I appologize for jumping in on your thread but I have to know how the eye surgery went. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] I'm in eactly the same situation as you...step one the basic Lasik then another procedure for the astigmatism, [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] but I've heard the great stories and then the not so great where some people have the fog like haze after the procedure. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] I go in two weeks for the first initial visit at the University Medical Center...tell me the real skinney...is it what you expected? I had the surgery on August 7. I had a haze the first day but could see to drive the next. Last week I noticed a brief period. Other than that I see very well.
I'm eagerly awaiting the second round so that I won't need these reading glasses. Good luck to you. I think the results will be overwhelmingly in your favor.
Martha

Martha,
Congratulations! I too went for the Lasik surgery, but there was a small problem, so I have to wait 6 months to be rechecked before they will do it.
Isn't it great to do wonderful things for yourself after all the poopy garbage you go through. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] I have been doing quite a lot of traveling, shopping, and enjoying actually having money again... my X was a money pit.
I think, since there are more women going to Nashville than the guys.... we need to schedule a group spa time (a couple of hours) and get the works! We'll show those guys what a bunch of fantastic women we are... inside and out! We are women.... hear us roar!! LOL
I look forward to meeting everyone in Nashville... I'm going to go home tonight and dig out my cowboy boots! Yeee Haaaa!
Butterfly

Thanks, Butterfly and all who have responded to this post. I am really looking forward to meeting everybody. Won't this be fun?
Now doesn't it seem strange that we are going to have fun after all the heartache we've ben through?
Martha
