In 1996, Tim Hutchinson was elected as one of the two senators from Arkansas. As Bill Clinton was from Arkansas, much was said about family values and morals. Mr. Hutchinson is a former Baptist minister.
After a separation, Mr. Hutchinson divorced his wife Donna in 1999. Saturday he married a former aide in his Washington office in her home state of New Jersey. The blissfully happy couple are said to be honeymooning all this week.

An article here in the Arkansas-Democrat Gazette reported a couple of weeks ago that Senator Hutchinson asked his sons not to attend the wedding out of respect to their mother. How noble of him!
I didn't vote for him in 96 and I would not cast my vote for him as dogcatcher if he were to run. I certainly don't condone the stupid actions of Bill Clinton. However, I have less respect for these so-called moral hypocrites who holler one thing and say another.
Another well-known example is Newt Gingerich of GA. He has already divorced one wife because of cancer. I've read other reports of why he has divorced his second although it has been said that the latest wife has been a mistress for some time.
Both the Hutchinson and Gingerich weddings have occurred in the last month. Wonder who we will be reading about next from the Moral Majority that decides he and she are in love with another partner.
Don't get me wrong. I believe in morals myself and have seen the demise of my marriage because of immorality. But these two men should have set a good example for our country.
Martha

Newt's second wife was his mistress when his first wife had cancer. Newt served his first wife papers when she was in the hospital. His second wife is getting what she dished out now. His new honey has been his mistress for awhile, supposedly.
I'm with you. Many of our national leaders and prominent people have been bad examples. However, don't forget about the senator who confessed to his infidelity in front of the whole senate and national television, and resigned his post rather than be a hypocrite during the Clinton impeachment hearings. He did this even though his adultery had occurred many years before and he did not divorce his wife. He did this rather than be one of those on the morality bandwagon pointing fingers at Clinton, who had done some of the same things themselves. I wish I could remember his name. Funny, how I remember the names of people who are not worthy of emulation, but I can't remember the name of one who is.

Could you be speaking of Livingston of Louisiana? I believe he was a congressman. Hutchinson also served in Congress before being elected to the Senate in 1996.
Thanks for responding.

Hey Stu & Martha,
I think Martha is right, if memory serves....Congressman Bob Livingston (R-LA) was up for Speaker of the House (Newt's replacement!) when somebody dropped a dime on him. Remember Larry Flynt (Hustler magazine) offered a million bucks to any woman who'd had an affair with a Congressman or Senator to spill the beans on them? Well, ole Bob was the biggest fish caught in that "dragnet". He wasnt really doing the "honorable" thing by resigning.....this babe must have had serious evidence and Bob knew he was a goner. So long Bobby! BTW, he's a lobbyist now making megabucks....
Oh, one funny thing, W and I were having dinner at the Outback Steakhouse in Arlington,VA (right outside DC) the other night and who strolls in? Newt and his new honey (Callista?)! I tried to get W to go over and throw a drink in his face, but she didnt think that was such a good idea. LOL
Oh well, I guess a politician that IS'NT slimy would be a real news story....
Take care ya'll!
Bill
