This post is in reference to my previous post. Please take a look at that one. I've just gotten served the copy of the petition by the court. I've retained a close friend that is an attorney for legal advice. I just need people's opinions on what to do from here.

{{{{{Baffled}}}}}...
I'm so sorry for you...
In general I'd recommend (if your friend doesn't mind)...If you need to protect yourself legally (and/or financially)... I usually make the recommendation of finding a good attorney. A good place to start off is at the Martindale-Hubbell Lawyer Search site. Do a search within your county... look for only "family law" specialists(>80% in divorce/custody/etc.)... make sure they do a lot of "family law committee work"... if they know the judges all the better... You can normally find a few that will give initial counseling free of charge.
USLaw.com (an alternative search site)
KristyAnn... is right...
There is alot to learn...
...check out my Welcome post... (geared mostly to infidelity... but can hep all troubled marriages).
Go for a Plan A...
...but protect yourself too...
It is a hard... but well worth the effort.
![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
Jim

Baffled,
Welcome to the Marriage Builders forum. You have received some good info to research by Jim. He was one of the first people to reply to me ten months ago.
As the day you posted, was my wedding anniversary, I am now divorced.
What I would suggest to you, is to first , speak to your lawyer immediately. You must protect yourself, this is something I failed to do.
Second, learn about Plan A and the MB Principles and start trying to save the marriage.
Your letter doesn't indicate what this is about. If I am reading the other post correctly, you've been together about 3 years, but recently married??
Marriage is a commitment we never fully understand til we are losing it.
Good luck, prayers, Dana
