Who would have thought that watching a few hours of television could bring you back down so quickly?
Thursdays used to be 'our' TV night. The night we would just veg out together and watch our favorite shows for 3 straight hours. Tonight was season premier night. I thought about skipping the shows, but I enjoy them and I didn't want her to take those from me too.
She's already taken so much.
------------------
JH93

Yeah, and what about that "Friends" episode where they talk about her(Monica) not wanting a big wedding but rather her wanting a marriage - a lifelong commitment.
Have to admit, the tears started flowing... ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif)

Hey guys,
Don't feel bad. I haven't watched hardly any TV since July of 99. Too many triggers, stories of adultry, families, etc.
It usually is just watching them alone.
Bob

WARNING!!!
DO NOT WATCH THE LIFETIME CHANNEL!!!!!!! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/rolleyes.gif)
Seriously though, tv has a TON of triggers and be darn sure you know what movie your going to see also!!!!!
I don't watch a lot of tv anymore myself. I stick to wrestling and sports, thats pretty safe!! (and its fun to watch people get beat on and trampled on!!)
Good luck it gets better, but I can tell you now, I noticed too that almost ALL shows have some kind of content regarding affairs, marriage, or divorce, and for me I can't deal with all that just yet.
Prayers, Dana
And I thought that I was the only one who was unable to watch TV.H used to sit and watch it every night...channel surf especially when there was something of interest. His only past time in the house as I waqs busy with kids homework etc. He did not want to do any of that stuff....so just vegged and surfed...and watched "Married with children" and Jerry Springer which I abhor.
Now I can barely watch anything other than the news

That episode of "Friends" definately was a little tough to get through, especially because my wife is very much like Monica in MANY ways.
I think just watching all of those shows alone is what got to me the most.
------------------
JH93

I just moved and hadn't had my cable set up yet, so I missed the new shows. I guess that was a good thing.
I too cry over movies, songs, etc. I watched "When Harry Met Sally" over the weekend and it was really upsetting. I didn't remember all the talk about divorce, etc. I never thought I would be watching it from a different perspective.
Hang in There. Like Dana has said before, I think these things will always trigger our emotions, but as time goes by, hopefully it won't keep us down as long.
Jen

I've found several movies/shows that I sometimes have trouble watching. Example: Beetlejuice. Used to love it. Seen it many times. Was on a week or so ago, started watching, and remembered watching it with her while we were dating and she was making lasagna for me on a wonderful Saturday night. Stopped, and may never be able to watch it again.
------------------
I am in this situation for a very good reason, it just took time to get over my own self-pity and understand why.

Well, this is another reason I don't watch TV very much... that and X used to watch it when he was home, and I felt abandoned. I was a TV widow.
I used to love to watch Thrusday night, because I knew when the news came on that he would be home soon. Now, I don't watch much besides Nick at Night and the occasional Baseball game. I can't say I really miss it though...
B

Off topic,
This the same "Butterfly" as another forum? If you don't know what I mean, don't worry about it. If you do, don't worry about that either, this is not that forum.
Just curious.

Single-Mom. Two bullheaded children who don't want to follow instructions. Work till 5. TV? What's that?
Watched "Sleepless in Seattle" over the weekend. How true in some parts. How magical. How sappy. How I wish I had some magic like that. Maybe.

OK, here is a must see:
The Story of Us - with Bruce Willis
I actually ordered the DVD for my wife and gave it to her months ago. I sat and watched the whole thing with tears in my eyes. So many similar situations that made me laugh (and also made me cry). The best thing is the ending - if only my life could be more like the ending of that movie!

And a song that "touches" me soooo much - the new Kenny Roger's song called "Buy me a Rose". It was featured in a "Touched by An Angel" show a few months ago - another good episode to watch if you catch it coming on again.
I well up just saying these lines below. I don't think I could say it any better to my wife, I just wish she had the trust and love to believe the words as the truth.
The end of the song again can give some of us hope.
---------------------------
Buy Me A Rose:
HE WORKS HARD TO GIVE HER ALL HE THINKS SHE WANTS A THREE-CAR GARAGE… HER OWN CREDIT CARD HE PULLS IN LATE TO WAKE HER UP, WITH A KISS GOODNIGHT IF HE COULD ONLY READ HER MIND (SHE’D SAY)
BUY ME A ROSE, CALL ME FROM WORK
OPEN A DOOR FOR ME, WHAT WOULD IT HURT
SHOW ME YOU LOVE ME BY THE LOOK IN YOUR EYES
THESE ARE THE LITTLE THINGS I NEED THE MOST IN MY LIFE
NOW THE DAYS HAVE GROWN TO YEARS OF FEELIN’ ALL ALONE AND SHE CAN’T HELP BUT WONDER WHAT SHE’S DOING WRONG ‘CAUSE LATELY SHE’D TRY ANYTHING TO TURN HIS HEAD WOULD IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF SHE SAID
BUY ME A ROSE, CALL ME FROM WORK
OPEN A DOOR FOR ME, WHAT WOULD IT HURT
SHOW ME YOU LOVE ME BY THE LOOK IN YOUR EYES
THESE ARE THE LITTLE THINGS I NEED THE MOST IN MY LIFE
AND THE MORE THAT HE LIVES, THE LESS THAT HE TRIES TO SHOW HER THE LOVE THAT HE HOLDS INSIDE AND THE MORE THAT SHE GIVES, THE MORE THAT HE SEES THIS IS A STORY OF YOU… AND ME
SO I BOUGHT YOU A ROSE, ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK
TO OPEN THE DOOR TO A HEART THAT I HURT
AND I HOPE THAT YOU NOTICE THIS LOOK IN MY EYES
‘CAUSE I’M GONNA MAKE THINGS RIGHT
FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE
I’M GONNA HOLD YOU TONIGHT
DO ALL THESE LITTLE THINGS,
FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE
......Kenny Rogers........

Mike,
I am not a country music fan, but I've had that song for a few months now on my PC from Napster and it is beautiful.
If only we're given that chance.....
Shawn

Downloaded it last night from Napster, very touching. Actually, I couldn't listen to much of it. I may save it for the future, and let her listen to it if we start working on our relationship again.
Speaking of Napster, it can really be addicting. I am on a cable modem, and have some 300 songs right now from Napster, 1.5 gigs, and I'll often burn 'em to CD as I spend my whole day in the car traveling for sales, around a thousand miles a week, but I love my car and I love my job.

Napster is an addcting site. My collection is only about 100 songs right now and I don't have a CD burner to move them.
There is another song out there by a band named "Lit" and I beleive it is called Miserable. The song is not beautiful like the Kenny Rogers one, but is actually very ironic. Part of the song is below:
You make me come
You make me complete
You make me completely miserable
Stuck to a chair
Watching this story about me
Everything goes by so fast
Making my head spin
Used up all of my friends
Who needs them when you mean everything
I love the things that we should fear
I’m not afraid of being here
So much the same
It makes me helpless alone
Nothing to share
Why should I care if you’re near me
Give up all of my plans
Who needs them when you mean everything
I love the things that we should fear
You make me come
You make me complete
You make me completely miserable

------------------
JH93
