My x inlaws came into watch my kids while I was away on a business trip on Sun-Tues. They told me they were going to x's for dinner on Sun. I felt bad for them thinking it must be real awkward for them as they have been real supportive of me.
So this morning I asked MIL how things went and that it must have been awkward for them. She replied "no, it wasn't. I just look at it(the divorce) as something that just happened that you can't control."
Ouch, I guess I was still looking for sympathy and instead got wacked right between the eyes.
Them my FIL is telling me about the used car he just bought and that it has some rust spots on it and it will cost $600 to fix, but om said he will fix it for $100. FIL said it is too far for him to come here and get it fixed. Gee thanks!!! I guess my role of favorite son-in-law is fading fast.
So as a warning to the others here, don't go looking for sympathy from others especially from the in-laws as the divorce fades fast for them.
Bob

I always knew that blood was thicker than water. My ex asked me if I ever trusted his parents. I told him, "nope. Not unless you died or something."

thl,
That quote came out wrong, she ment that the divorce was something that out of people's control. It wasn't ment as a slap at me.
I guess thats the way they are chossing to deal with this. I guess they are trying to hold their family together as well as they can. Their son lives in Calif. and bounces from job to job. My XFIL fears that if he comes home, he'll stay so he won't let him come back to Pa. XMIL continues to send him money.
X's sister is now p.o.'d at both x and the brother and won't have anything to do with either of them.
Well its their loss. They are no longer a priority in my life so I won't be making special trips to see them so if they aren't willing to travel, they will get to see their grandkids whenever unless their d takes them. I guess that is always a possibilty.
Hi Bob,
I can sure relate to that one!! My EX INLAWS trashed and bashed their own son for 10 months, but then when their youngest SON (ex's little brother) had football season start up, they were thrilled he made it (for the son's sake) and everyone got along.
They are the same ones who made my ex feel bad at his own kid's soccer games.
I was ticked about it. Plus they stopped watching the kids for me in a jam.
Now that football season is over and ex is not going around, they are calling me more. Its very awkward and I feel stabbed a little too.
Yes blood is thicker than water, BUT, I gave them their grandkids and saved their son's life literally TWICE> I would have liked not to be disowned for a ten week football game.
GRR!!
Sorry to vent on your thread!!!
Yes, and I love how all of a sudden people start ACCEPTING the OP. OW in our case, calls his mom....MA.
Hugs,Dana
Hey There!
I always read your post...I can sooooo relate.
I felt disowned by my ex in laws. They would ask how OW was in front of my kids. They lied to me about wanting a china cabinet back they gave me so they could give it to exH....the last nail..was that they got his loan for him for a condo when he was under court restrainst from transferring fund from our stock plan for the down payment...
The only grandchildren they have are my children....I will try to say plesant things about them to the kids..but I do not make a effort anymore to see them. That is ex's job to take the kids over.
It all stinks...we did not envision this for our children..split families...betrayal..ect ect...we just have to make the best of it.
Hang in there...you are a great person!!!

x's parents are enablers though they would never admit it. I'm in infinitely better relationship with them than with their son. I just hope they see new dil for the white trash I see her as. And ugly too. But I'm sure that they see me as less than they did before their son started this debacle.
