ive been married for 10 years now and i have a 5 year old son, for the past three years i have been argueing with my wife over how we raise our son, this is all we ever fight about, i have "old fashion values" while my wife has more open ones, i am very strict to where she is not, when i get angry with my son, my wife will get angry with me and she begins to ignore me which infuriates me and i will do the same, we go for days without talking to each other. she also tells me that i don' spend enough time with my son, i believe that i do. she keeps telling me that we need to go to couseling to resolve our matters but i dont see what good that will do, i am tired and fed up with this happening all the time, i realize that i can't change my values and she can't accept that. i tell her that its better for me to leave and she can raise my son the way she wants to. i know im not the best father but i just can't please her and im tired of trying.

Gabriel,
I urge you to give counselling some serious thought. A good counsellor is not there to convince one partner to give in and accept the other's values, but to help you learn how to compromise and deal iwht all differences in your relationship. You owe it to your son to try at least, even if you are doubtful of the benefit.

Agreed with Matt. A good counselor can help. Maybe even you can both read some books on child-raising and discuss them together...talking about it rather than fighting about a particular situation at the moment it has happened.
Also, if you are Christian, many churches have a program called "Growing Kids God's Way" that is very highly recommended by a lot of people. (I personally don't have children yet. I know my husband and I differ in areas so we'll probably take the class prior to our children being born.)
