You know what they say - what goes around...
Well, Christmas Eve was the first holiday since my separation that my stbx didn't have the kids...and since his OW had her child and her H entered a no-contact clause between my H and their child until their divorce is final, my stbx could not go to her house either.
So he tried to hide out from his feelings at the local bars he frequents...darn...all closed by 7:00 pm (small town life).
Then he tried to hide from his feelings at his parents' but that just reminded him that he wasn't having any fun on Christmas Eve since they don't celebrate or do anything other than watch TV (we always had a big party with friends, my family, play games, etc.)
Then he tried to hide from his feelings by going over to a couple of bachelor buddies' houses, but they'd all gone to their families'...he was finally alone with his thoughts and had no where to hide but his empty, childless, cold house.
I called and reminded him to stop by and pick up the Christmas cookies my daughter decorated for him (she wanted him to set one out for Santa at his house too - so he had to come over Christmas Eve).
When he showed up at 8:00 pm - the party I chose to have anyway was in full swing - games, children running around, music, food, etc. No one really acknowledged him standing there except my kids - my family feels quite a bit of disgust toward him and his treatment of me - and he was obviously extremely uncomfortable and couldn't get out of there fast enough.
He even managed to complain to me today (the day he had the kids) about how rude it was that my family made him feel uncomfortable...and how his family would never treat me that way. It was all I could do not to burst out laughing and shout, "Well, duh! I didn't cheat on you, lie to you, and dump you after 15 years and 2 kids - you did it and your family knows it!" Man he can be so dense!
Instead, I just said, "well, I'm sorry you felt that way." I made no apologies and no excuses for them "shunning" him.
I was so glad that for once he would know how it feels to be uncomfortable in your own skin. I am uncomfortable wherever I go in this town worrying about whether I will bump into OW or her circle of friends that helped cover up the affair, or worrying that I will turn the aisle in the supermarket or at a store and run into my stbxh and ow together. At least he finally got a dose of his own medicine - albeit - a very small dose...but it still felt good.
Merry Christmas All
Lisa
------------------
---------
To err is human, to forgive divine.
