There's a man who is very special to me - so is his wife. Since my dad died years ago and my mother has basically lived in Florida for years, they were my ears during the worst of the ordeal.
Ed's wife couldn't get him up Saturday morning. She eventually got him to the hospital. There they discovered that he had 3 completely blocked arteries. Plus a growth on his heart. Part of that had broken off and traveled to his brain.
Ed had triple by-pass surgery yesterday and they removed the mass from his heart. It appears to be benign. I work in the office of the church we both attend. We have not heard anything since they finished the surgery yesterday. I suppose this is good news. Ed and Bunny have been married for over 50 years. Please keep these dear friends in your prayers.
While we're at it, keep my mom in your prayers also. Last year, between Christmas and New Year she lost the love of her life. Jack was Uncle Jack almost all my life. He and my mom lived next door to each other for years in Florida. Mom has been back up here in Nashville for several months. Trying to decide if she should keep the place in Florida or let it go. She's really in a state of depression right now. Don't forget her.

cinderella,
Isn't it amazing how God puts people like these in your life - especially when you need them the most. Something that amazed me which might give you some comfort happened about 2 years ago: My W had some problems with her heart and had to have a procedure done. It was a rather long procedure, lasting about 7 hours. Sitting in the waiting room, I was a mess. Next to me there was this elderly lady who's husband was taken in around the same time my wife went into surgery. After a few hours she started talking to me asking why someone as young as my wife was in the cardiac ward. After I told her the story she said, "honey don't fear too much, this is my husbands 4th bypass surgery and I have had 2 myself. If this were 20 years ago, both he and I might not have made it through the first one, but with the advances in heart care, my husband will probably be out of the hospital in a couple days".
I guess what I am trying to say is try to take some comfort in today's surgical procedures and the skilled surgeons performing them.
My prayers are with them, with you, with your wife and with all those people that may be worrying about Ed and his wife this week.
God Bless,
Mike
