I have a date tommorrow afternoon that was planned last week, however just found out last nite my son has an indoor in the afternoon too. So I asked my son if he minded if I bring my lady friend and he said it isn't a problem. I asked my friend and she said she would go if my son doesn't mind. So I am taking her.
I am feeling apprehensive because my x will be there. I don't know why I am feeling this way. After all I am single and x is married to some one else so what can she say. I guess this will open it up to her bringing her om/h to the kids stuff too though.
Well if she gives me any trouble I will be writing you all from prison [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com].

Hey if your son was OK with it, that's all you really need to be concerned about. My son has asked me not to date until his mother divorces me, so I'm going to honor his wishes (not the only reason, of course).
I think it's great that your son and she both felt comfortable about going. I hope you had a great time!
take care...
------------------
nick
it's only time that heals the pain
and makes the sun come out again

Hey Bob,
I can't tell by the times if this has already happened or its today. I just woke up and I'm too tired yet to calculate!
I'd say that first off, that's great that your son is ok with it. Thats a sign that he is "ok" with what has happened. Its also good that your lady friend will go too. Thats a sign that she will show interest in your children . [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I agree that it will open the door for OM, but I suppose if he's now exW's new H, that he'd be there anyhow so there is no sense in denying yourself if it is going to happen anyhow.
I can say that last summer I was dating someone and went to his d's soccer game. His exH was there. He introduced us. For me it was very awkward because I already had some feelings for this person. At that time, I wished I had crossed her path sooner before I had some feeligns or later when I was "secure" with them.
I am not sure how long you have been with your "lady friend", and is she your girlfriend? [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] I just wanted to let you know that when I experienced it from her shoes I had some mixed feelings, even though I didn't say it at first. I wanted to get to know his kids, but not with his exW there.
Its hard to be the new girlfriend in someone's life who has that exW and all that pain that surrounded it. Depending on how far along your new relationship is, she may feel a little awkward too. I would say to make her as comfortable as you can.
Hope it goes well, or went well if I'm late on this!
Oh, and also, last summer I used to go to my d's soccer games, and I wasn't even divorced and H brought OW and they would SIT next to me and talk to me. Grrrr. Have you thought about what you'll do if ex is there first, as to will you sit near them or farther away??
Dana
Things went okay. When we got to the game, the kids were warming up at the other end of the building. My son looked up and waved, but didn't come up to me. So we waited by the entrance to the field and my lady friend told me to go ahead and talk to him alone. So I went up and wished him good luck and play hard, etc and didn't push meeting the my lady friend. After the game, my friend said she would wait in the stands and I could go and talk to him so this is what I did. He didn't bring ladyfriend up and neither did I. So I guess things went well.
Were was x during all this? When we first got there, I didn't see her, but later noticed that she was standing behind my lady friend and I waiting for the game to start.
After the game, I talked briefly to x when she asked if I paid anything for soccer fee and clothing. I told her I had $65 into and she gulped and reached in her purse and gave me $30.
Right after the soccer game, my lady friend and I were back at my house eating lunch when my daughter came in. She had spent the night at a friends and hadn't gone to her mothers yet. She was going shopping and wanted her gift certficates and money she got for Christmas. She didn't meet my friend either.
SO I guess that is something to look forward to at a later date.
We both discussed our dating and are trying to take it slowly. One thing that is helping that is that we live 80 miles apart. She has two boys that her x takes only every other weekend so that reduces the time we can see each other.

My daughter told me that when I'm ready to date, I could date the oldest Backstreet Boy and she could date Nick Carter's little "recording artist brother" Aaron Carter (he's 12). We could "double"
Of course, my daughter is in 4th grade...she's trying to find a way to make this divorce work for her. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

That is too funny. My children have yet to come up with any ideas for me for dates. However, I think the guidance counselor at my son's school is so cute. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] He's not handsome. But I could just eat him up. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] Not to mentions son's speech therapist. The baby's only 26 and my, oh, my. But one boy to raise is enough. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

I know what you mean about some if these teachers. My son has had almost all first year teachers since kindergarten.
When I find out their ages though, I figure out I should be hitting on their mothers instead!!!
