Wow I wish my 5 year old would say something like that.
She knows dad is wrong and wants to stay with me. I encourage her to enjoy her holidays with daddy which she does and have told her it is ok for her and daddy to love each other.
If he wants to talk on the phone to me, she always say "dont growl at her" because I enivitably end up crying. Because of what I lost and miss from the past not what he is now. I dont want him back.

My children were 4 and 2 when doofus moved out. It took a while before I got the oldest one in counseling. The younger one had some serious articulation problems and didn't get into counseling for quite a while longer. But it has been well worth every penny - and there have been a LOT of them - I've spent on it. I wholeheartedly recommend that you find good therapists for your children. Perhaps a minister or school psychologist could make a recommendation. My daughters preschool helped me.
We think of getting help for ourselves but our babies need it too. And their other parents need to pay part of it.
There may be community service agencies which provide services on a sliding scale. It's important to meeet these little folks needs. There are some good books. Marc Brown, who does Arthur, is the illustrator of one called "Dinosaur Divorce" or something like that. Talk with the children's librarian at your nearest public library.
