Well another Birthday is upon me.
I received birthday cards throughout the week from family and friends including one from my ex-wife's parents and another from her grandparents. Then today, I actually received a very nice card from my ex-wife herself. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Now I know that my ex would remember what today was, but I never really expected to hear from her. Her card actually brought a few tears to my eyes too. I wasn't expecting anything from her and just getting this card really shocked the heck out of me. I don't want to read anything into this either as this was probably nothing more than just a friendly gesture.
And as thoughtful as it was for her family to send me cards, that didn't surprise me as much because I know that they still care for me regardless of my ex's decision to end our marriage.
Sometimes things just really take me off guard!

Someone told me a couple of days ago that she might still have feelings for me.....
hmmm... I wonder who he was?
Of course she still has feelings for you. My best advice is to accept it in the spirit of a friendly gesture (as it was most surely intended) and thank her graciously for it.
My STBX's sent a card & a gift too, it's a little unsettling at times, isn't it?
Have a nice day Shawn. Go do something nice for yourself. You deserve it.
Take care...
------------------
nick
it's only time that heals the pain
and makes the sun come out again

Jayhawk,
I do understand.
My stbx came over for X-mas night to see the kids, and he gave me a gift.
It did catch me by surprise,I didn't really know what to say. What? who me,......never have something to say back! That doesn't happen very often.LOL [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I did finally say thank you, that he didn't have to do that.Went on w/the evening and left it at that.
I didn't look more into then just what it was.I know him too well.He was being nice and that is all.No hidden meaning.[he made his choice when he moved out]
I agree w/what Nick said, take care of your self,go do something fun!
Chin up,it will get better.
Gina [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
------------------
"If we deny love that is given to us,if we refuse to give love because we fear pain or loss, then our lives will be empty, our loss greater!"-----Anonymous----

She probably didn't do it for any hidden meaning. I think it was merely a polite gesture. I can understand, though, your hopes that there was hidden meaning. In response, I would either do nothing or call her and thank her for the card but get off the phone quickly. You can always feign being in a hurry.
((((((((((Shawn))))))))))
-Jane-Elise

Happy birthday.
I wouldn't read too much into the card. It was nice, but don't look for hidden meanings.

------------------
Belle, Domestic Goddess
