Why would someone want to "let go" of something that is right?
I think GnomedePlume has hit the nail on the head with his quote about unconditional love.

sotired,
I know it doesn't take two people to get an annullment. My first H got one and I didn't even know until he told me and he was remarried. In that case, he was absolutely correct in getting one. We did not say vows, he cheated on me the day after the wedding (and many, many times afterward), and he was an admitted sex addict. I'm sure it was a pretty cut and dry procedure.
I considered having our marriage annulled without my ex's permission, but decided against it. I was married in my heart and probably always will be. For me to pursue the annullment would be a betrayal of my own feelings and principles. Even if I did get an annullment, it wouldn't change the fact that I meant what I said when I told him "till death do us part".
For him to pursue an annullment would be following through with his original statement, which is why I felt he should do it and not me. However, he won't have any moral crisis saying his vows over and over again, so he doesn't see much point in getting an annullment.
