I have a 9Am Vendor conference meeting to discuss having my Tier 1 Internet company I work for sell Internet access to about 8 of the largest school districts in Texas. This is a sales lead that I found. Worth Big BUCKS.. I'm just a lowly Technical Solutions Consultant.. We walk into the meeting and all of the big players are sitting around the table.. AT&T, UUNET, Quest, All of them 18-22 people. The meeting starts, everybody starts talking about the RFP and then I steal the show. It was a meeting that everything moved in slow motion and I was the only person moving in fast motion. I knew all the right questions to ask, I knew what the answer was before he gave the answer. In a 1 hr. meeting the bid provider and I talked for about 30 min. of them.. PERFECT. And I get a cut if it sells. Big TIME!!!..
I take off early from work, I feel I deserve it. A friend and I go play about 1.5 hrs. of Racquetball and I win every game. Couldn't miss a shot if I tried.
After racquetball we (the buddy of mine) go eat at Outback Steak house. We get seated and next to us is a couple that are with out a doubt on one of there first dates. each of them laughing at each others small talk. He was talking about car engines and she was politely chuckling.... while she is doing this she looks over at me and winks. NO DOUBT. I think maybe she has something in her eye or something. not 2 minutes later she does it again. I take my cloth napkin and under the table hit my buddy and kinda give him that look over here look. (you know when your head doesn't move but your eyes try to point that direction) So now he starts watching her also. and right on time she giggles and winks at me. My parter about fell out of his seat. This girls date gets up to go to the restroom and when the door closes behind him I take a piece of paper (a old reciept from Kroger or something)ask the waiter if I could borrow his pen. She now sees what I am doing.. I kinda half sit forward set the pen and small piece of paper in front of her and said (OOOHhhh PLeasse forgive me, I'm so Evil) I said ' Hi, My name is Gxcg, and I would really like your phone number.' She looked at the pen/paper, looked over at me, and said 'Sure'. She handed back the piece of paper, handed the waiter back his pen, My buddy was in conniptions(sp?), she turned around in her seat and her boyfriend came back. I just couldn't believe it.. ;-)
After we left the Outback I threw the number away. My parter said I was cazy. I just looked over and said. 'You know, I'm gonna be OK'...
Then went to go see Cast Away with Tom Hanks. Thought it was about a 4 out of 10. Very long.
Today was a BIG HIGH day on the Roller Coaster.
Sorry for rambling it was a good day, and tomorrow I take the SBTXW to find a mini-storage unit so we can start the you get this and I get this action.
I AM GOING TO BE OK!!!
I hope everybody has a great day tomorrow..
YYEEEEHHHaaaaa, God Bless Texas!!.. ;-)

I love it! What a boost! Thought it was cool that you threw it away. It served its purpose, right?

Absolutly. It served its purpose. I did throw it away. I had no intentions at all to use it (the number). I just wanted to flex a little flirtation muscle (Opps, not P.C.). I haven't done anything like that in 12+ or so years. I still think about it today and get a smile from event. I couldn't believe I did it. It just took me, I had to do it. I was compeled by something deep inside. I had to answer the call. Don't get me to howling now.. ;-)
On another note: Did anybody see the Outback Surviver's first episode? Did ya see the guy from Texas? His personal Item was the Lone Star State flag. EXCELLENT!!.
I thought this rather fitting after my story. Us boys from Texas are a fun/proud bunch.
