Hi All,
I want to start by saying thank you to all who responded to my previous post which was to say the least a bit verbose.
It has now been a little over a month since the news was delivered. Since then I have found out that the OW (EA)has been pretty much an open ear for him. He has said that she too has wondered where GOd was during her suffering. He feels "a connection" with her, and is not making any plans for their future, as he realizes that there are many issues to recover from first.
I have come to the conclusion that I have treated him poorly over the years yet that does not make me a worthless person. So my eyes have been opened. I am doing Plan A
presently. This confuses him as I have given my word that I would sign the papers. I have gently explained to him that I will sign only because I love him and want him to be happy. I do have hope however, and if there were an oppurtunity I would jump on it.
He feels that I am procrastinating. So I told him we can pull out the papers tonight, and I will sign, even though it is the hardest thing I have ever done. But! Please ,as this is a sacrifice I make for you, let me ask something in return.
I will continue to show you all the love that I have for you, even after the finality of divorce. I asked him to have an open heart. And, I said that this is all complicated enough as it is....please let her go, as a sacrifice for me.
He agreed. But he said he is doing it for himself, not for me. That he agrees it will make things harder and that he is not ready for it.
He said "dont you realize that this is what I had always wanted from you?" Meaning my love. He needs to feel a closure to the pain of the past, and divorce is his soloution..
I view this as a small victory, as I have told him that after the D we owe each other nothing. I give love out of my own free will, not to try and cling to our past or this marraige. To please take it for what it is, as I have alot to offer you.
I couldn't believe that he agreed. I spoke very rationaly, w/o being clouded with emotions and pain.
This may be my second chance folks. I am positive it will take time to heal the past, as we all need some sense of closure. This is his reason for the divorce. This is my chance to show him my love.
We do plan on living together for a couple years while he finishes school. Anyways, long story short...
Thanks for listening!!!

Good girl! You're learning.
Sorry to say I can't give you much help on Plan A. I was long divorced before I arrived here. I think I did a modified plan A, though I didn't know it at the time.
I hope and pray your marriage gets a second chance.

Signing those papers is a big leap of faith. It may be the best thing you could do, or the worst. I hope and pray that it works for you.
I may well be forced to make a very similar decision in the near future...
