I was asked by some very close friends of "ours", to be the God mother of their son. I am so touched and honored that they'd ask me. It is bittersweet however, I thought that my husband and I would have been great "God Parents" to their little boy.
It brought a tear (actually quite a few) to my eye. I have been feeling so melancholy lately. Just this weekend, I was in my garage and came across some pictures and cards, just memories I put away for awhile (to possibly be revisited some day). Such torture, why do I do it to myself!! Also, I had carried this row of pictures (you know the ones that you take in a booth at a fair) in my wallet, and of course forgot about until the other day. We looked so happy and in love.
I must put them away and no more sad songs!!!!!! One of my absolute favorite songs is Mona Lisa and Mad Hatters by Elton John, does it ever bring back memories. The tears flow, but I think it is healthy and a good release for me.
I just really felt like posting and just sharing how I am feeling.
Thanks for listening.
Petrie

One other thing, the other night a friend and I went out for a casual dinner. He is male, but we are just friends. Anyhow we walked into the sushi bar and right away caught the eye of two of my closest friends (a couple w/whom my STBXH and I share many special memories). They immediately hugged me and asked us to join them. I didn't feel uncomfortable being with this other person because we are just friends, but I was saddened by the fact that "us" is no longer Greg and I.
How do you all deal with these bittersweet moments????????
[This message has been edited by REJECTED (edited March 27, 2001).]
[This message has been edited by REJECTED (edited March 27, 2001).]

Hi Rejected,
I too experience those sad moments. When a special song comes on, or particularly when my girls say "Mummy, let's have a 'fambily' hug" our little terminology for an all-in hug. It used to include him, obviously now it no longer does. That ALWAYS makes me sad.
However, I'm almost at the stage where I can think back about the happy times, and not have the anger that used to follow those sorts of thoughts. IE, we used to be so good together, why did you st**ff it all up???
I still don't have any photos around, it is too soon for that. No need for it now either I guess!!! My eldest d has a photo of her daddy in her bedroom, but that's about it.
I miss **our** friends, most of whom have fallen through the cracks. I found in my case that none of our friends wanted to take sides, so they all stayed away. UH HUH that's just what I needed, NOT.!!!! Some friends have more contact with him than with me, which burns my butt because they were my friends before there even was an *us*, however, I'm fairly philisophical (sp.) about that too. I guess they have more in common with him than me, maybe they agree with what he has done, or at the very least, think's it's ok. Who knows. Sure as eggs not me!!!
Anyway, have to go to work, glad you had a nice night with your friends.
big hugs for you
Jo

Petrie,
I had to put most of the pictures away too. I stopped listening to music as much as possible. It gets better. Most of the pictures are back out now.I still have my moments but it is so much better.
How? For me it took faith and Gods promises.
Take care,
gentle
