Is anyone else out there feeling the stress of valentines day? It was easy when my SO had first started dating, the romantic dates just seemed to happen. Now, on the other hand, I feel all sorts of pressure and guilt to try to make it a great day for him (even tougher to accomplish when you consider that we are still busy paying off credit cards that we over-used at christmas time)! The pressure and the finances have just sucked the joy out of the 'lovers holiday' for me.

Yeah, the burdens of day-to-day living, and this holiday devoted to romance don't seem to mix well, do they?
I used to wonder why anyone would feel uneasy over this celebration of Eros love, but now I think I understand.
Sorry. No brilliant insight here. Just some empathy.

It doesn't solve the problem but that's a great way of putting it. The ideal romantic day that we're all 'supposed' to generate doesn't mix well at all with real life. It helps to know I'm not the only one feeling stressed by this 'lovers' day.
