As stated in Tired Lady's thread, my mental capacity had been reached. My H would not/could not make any kind of a commitment to me. I had asked him to agree to work on things until spring, then see what happens. No go. Doesn't love me/hasn't loved me, etc. Well, reality bit him in the butt when he saw me packing, got a contract on the house and me leaving.
He has to be out of the house the end of September and doesn't have a clue as to where he's going.
He has been calling me and we've been out to dinner three times. Yes, I did do his laundry once, but he knows he needs to go to the laundry mat. He went for a physical yesterday and the doctor recommended prozac rather than what had been recommended by prior therapist. His first appt with therapist he has chosen was this morning. I told him to see what she thought regarding medication. Anyone have any comments on prozac? How long does it take for patient to see effects?
Well, at any rate, it took all this and him hitting rock bottom to finally see what good things our life held and what he has to lose. While he still doesn't "love me", I still hold on to some hope. If there weren't any feelings, why would he have cried the whole last week I was home? why would he be seeking therapy now, when he has refused over the last year? Why is he now agreeing to antidepressants?
I'm doing fine and last night I got the first full night of sleep in over a year. It seems my thoughts have been "consumed" with this mess over the last year. You know -- today I caught myself -- I went a couple of hours without thinking about it. I'm going to be all right. I hope he will. He brought the checkbook by last night with his bills. Wanted me to "help". He only had the house payment, phone bill and one other. I watched him write the checks. Showed him how to balance the checkbook.

Janie,
You ARE doing fine, and I think you've handled yourself tremendously.
Prozac is the most commonly-prescribed antidepressant on the market. It does have a record of "not working" after a while (but usually 12+ months). Figure on 2-4 weeks to see the effect.
There's good news about hitting rock-bottom. There's nowhere to go but up!!
Take care of yourself!
