I have this xh with whom I am unable to communicate. It’s just a difference in our communication styles – coupled with our attitudes toward each other. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
But the main problems are our communication styles and our personality types.
So something came up and I have a chance to do some contract work out of town for about 4 days. Which means I need to get doofus, my x, to keep our two children for 4 days knowing that I’ll be home for 3 days before they go back to him for another 4 or 5 days while I have a fun personal adventure planned. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] Since x admits that one of his goals in life is to make my life hell, I was not looking forward to this challenge.
So, I called my friend WIFTTy. Now WIFTTy has been preaching MBTI techniques and philosophy to us. I am here to give him a hearty “AMEN”.
He got out his copy of “Just Your Type”, a book on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as it relates to marriage. And he read the information about how to communicate with ISTJs, like doofus. And I tried it. And it worked. I crafted my letter to doofus according to the recommendations of the book. He was able to have his need for information met. And he was able to do what I needed. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Way cool. Seriously!!! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Yes, if you can read and comprehend, you can improve your communication skills with your spouse or x. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
And while we’re on the subject, the authors of “Just Your Type” have out some other books, “Do What You Are” using MBTI for career selection purposes and “Nurture By Nature” which is about MBTI and children. The authors’ last names are Barron and Barron-Tieger or Tieger-Barron. They come highly recommended. Check this stuff out. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
IT REALLY WORKS!!!!!!
