I have been here for almost a year now. I cannot tell you how much help this site has been. You have provided more insight into my Id, my super ego, my life, my understanding of marriage, etc.. For that I say a thousand thanks cannot be enough. I DO NOT plan to leave this site as I think I can offer some small pittance of advice. And If I can help one person it will continue to set me free.
Now for the heavy stuff.
Over the course of this last year I have been in contact with a few of you via e-mail. In a recent e-mail conversation I made the statement that I have a whole lot to offer some woman and someday I hope to be able to share. The response to the mail had the following as its last statement.
“What do you have to give that is so uniquely YOU?”

This last sentence struck a note inside me that I still can’t shake. This question has used a lot of my brain cycles. It is a question that has captured me in a manner that almost every spare moment that I am not in business thought or under physical exertion has consumed me. After thinking about it for almost a week now and I think I can answer this question.
“What do you have to give that is so uniquely YOU?”

The answer I bring to you today is: Me.
I AM UNIQUE!!
Anyone can have the general strengths of compassion, humor, love, honesty, fairness, open mindedness, communications, faith, the ability to listen, and many more. What makes me unique is my heritage. My upbringing, the very DNA of all of my ancestors, brought to bear on what I see as ME. I have all the above mentioned personality traits (Plus a few), but I am unique for all of what my past experiences have taught me, it makes or allows me to be all of the above but with the different color that is uniquely ME. This does not make me better than anyone else; this does not make me smarter than anyone else. This just makes me, ME.
I am the columniation of all the morals, ethics, decision processes of every single person that has ever been involved with the creation of the ME that is today. Form the British officer in the American Revolution, on my great, great, great grandfather side to the mule trader 100+ years ago on my mothers side. Every one before and after.
This is much deeper than “I Think, Therefore I am” . This adds the variables and complexities of time and genetics and religion, and relationships, of trials and tribulations into the equation.

I AM UNIQUE!! There will be no others, like me. I am the only one. My daughter will learn from me and incorporate into her being what I teach her, continuing the never ending timeline.
I AM UNIQUE!! There is only one ME.
In closing I say again thanks for all of your help.
Tex.
God Bless Texas!!
Responses Welcome.
Have a nice day!! ;-)

[This message has been edited by AgoodManInTexas (edited May 21, 2001).]

And now you are well on the road to divorce recovery!!!
I agree with your insight 100%, we are all completely unique, based on the culmination of our life experiences.

------------------
Pain is a given, misery is optional.
