Hi Brad,
No you can't remarry in the church if your first marriage is not annulled.
Here's a FAQ.
http://www.rc.net/lansing/st_mary/essays/questions.html
------------------
Pain is a given, misery is optional.

It gets 'worse'. Depending on the 'authority' you are speaking to, you can't even date. 'Til death do you part.'
Now, you can, at your own convenience, and to further your own convenience, talk to a more softliner type, and get an answer you like, but why not read the Bible cover to cover, and make your own mind up instead of looking for outside validation. This thing is between your God and you. One of the worst aspects of all organized religion is that it attempts to place itself between the person and their Creator. That is wrong. Church is truly an abstract noun, and fellowship is not. There's another one we got wrong.

Look into the "internal forum" ... some parishes grant their own less formalized annulments, although they are controversial.

Hi Brad, if you were married in the Catholic church, and you wish to remarry in the Catholic Church, no you can't get married.
But if you have wedding plans ... hasn't your priest already discussed this with you?

------------------
Pain is a given, misery is optional.
Dear Bramble:
I am an Australian who travels around a lot for his job. I will be marring a Costa Rican lady. I have not had a chance to speak to a priest yet on this subject. But any ways we will battle through and it is only the catholic church that loses in the end. They can forgive murderers, thieves and the likes but someone whos marriage has failed!!! "I can see why these people a worst then the ones above." I find this very hard to comprehend.
Brad
