My wife has served me with divorce papers. Does anyone know how long I have to respond to these papers. I recieved them a week ago and get sick whenever I think about looking at them. I do not want this divorce, please see my other posts I believe they are lingering on page 4, or you can search by user name rickandkim. Thanks everyone!

Everyone on this sight, is in my prayers. This is hands down the hardest thing to deal with. You know the saying "You never know what you have until it is gone" who said that, I dislike that saying.

Laws vary from state to state. Here in AZ you only have 20 days to respond.
There are several web sites that have the laws by state I don't remember them but do a search under Divorce Laws.
I recommend that you get to a lawyer or mediator asap and get working. If you fail to respond she may get everything as stated in her petition and most likely including things like you pay her lawyer fees!
I know it hurts to deal with them I got mine 5 days ago! I was so angry I went into the garage and destroyed a few things. Funny thing is after that release I feel at peace. I had been in a real funk up until that time.
Take action now for your sake! PLEASE.

As much as it sucks, you have got to get moving! There will be plenty of time to grieve the loss of your marriage, which is a necessary part of this awful process. But if you'd like to have any furniture to sit on, or dishes out of which to eat Hagen-Daas whilst grieving, you had better get to a lawyer, pronto!
