What do I do when my husband left 6 months ago and took 2 of our vehicles, leaving me the oldest, most unreliable one to take care of our 2 young children in? The vehicles are in both of our names, but he also took the titles with him. How can I get at least one of them back? Nothing is working.

Where does everything stand with you?
Are you legally separated; has one of you filed for divorce?
Or is this a ploy to get you to do the filing so that you can get a decent car back from him without him having to feel the guilt of filing?
You may need to talk to an attorney. See about getting something that designates one of those cars for your sole use.
[That's just really a ratty thing for him to do. But I guess it's not so different from mine running out the month before to buy us a new car for me and the kiddo, and then up and leaving me with the bill for it.]
~Amy

We both have filed for divorce 6 months ago and are fighting custody, visitation, finances, everything... we now have joint custody with me as primary. nothing has been settled yet. How do I get a decent car back in the meantime?

What we have are called 'temporary orders'. It outlines who has what (for now). Cars, house, bills, child support, visitation....all of that. Also states what can and can't be done -- removing property and documents, messing with utilities, taking children around 'friends', etc.
Lays out some groundrules for us to operate under while everything is pending.
~Amy
