Recently a good friend of mine called me to tell me she was upset. It turns out that the man she has been dating for the past 10 months lied to her.:X
They both were working at the same school when they met. They are both teachers. She is estranged from her husband (He lives in another country) and has a 14 year old daughter. He told her he was divorced and had a 4 year old daughter that was living in his home country.
Last week he finally admitted that the ex wife and child were a lie. When asked why did he feel the need to do this his reply was that he needed feel like he fit in with his peers. But my friend is very hurt ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif) and doesn't know how to handle this. I'm not sure what to say to her.
I personally dont like to be lied to and don't understand why people feel the need to say things like that. I told her I'd post this to get other peoples views. Any thoughts?
Q
------------------
What a way to start a relationship, than with a big fat lie! That would be the first and final red flag. An honest person is a rare treasure, but worth the looking and the waiting. Secondly.... never date a fellow employee.

This guy sounds like a habitual liar. I wonder what the motivation was for the lie. Maybe to build up artificial empathy? Whatever, one lie leads to two, which usually leads to four. I say dump him.
