I usually post over on GQII, but thought this question was more appropriate here. It is a possibility that my H may be moving out next week. I still hope not, but am trying to find out some info, so I am prepared if he does.
As for the timelines for filing for divorce---I seem to be getting conflicting information. I live in Illinois, and have heard that there is a 6 month separation period before either party can even file the papers, but have also heard that papers can be filed immediately, and the six month period (for an uncontested divorce) is for the divorce to be final.
If anyone can shed any light on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Even the websites I've looked at are confusing.....

In Illinois, a divorce requires a two year separation. It can be mutually agreed upon (no-fault) that 6 months is adequate. The process of divorce legally requires a separation. What is supposed to happen, is that you file the legal separation, which spells out the divorce terms. After 6 months, a divorce can be granted, but....
...you can lie about the separation, get the papers signed by your spouse, and get a divorce in Illinois in as little as 15 minutes...that is what my XW did, and we live in Illinois. -Mike
