i should get a Plan A+ for last night. My wife had asked me if i could take the kids for a few hours so she could go to a meeting (12 step meeting). She also said she wanted to see the apartment. Great, i thought, maybe this is good, i get some extra time with the kids, some time with her, and a chance to show i am doing just fine on my own.
Well, the phone rings at 7:30, i figure she is callnig to say they are on the way. Really sorry she says, got the wrong week, sitter is here, is it OK if we do it another time. (same woman who now has such 'clarity about her feelings', but does not know what week it is)
Well, i had rearranged my schedule, i was going to miss a meeting to do this, had gone to the store to get special dessert for the kids, had cleaned up the apartment etc.
i started to get angry, pull out the verbal 12 gauge and let her have it, but a voice inside said 'easy does it, this is just an honest mistake, be cool. And i was-said no problem, i understand, we'll do it another time, see you guys this weekend. She apologized several times. I Plan A'd, kept the high ground, thought before i spoke, and it felt good. Maybe i'm changing a little too, and i think just maybe she saw that last night.
Here's the clincher, i went to the Al-Anon meeting i was going to miss, and the topic from the day's reading was....controlling anger! Serendipity.

It gave her the confidence to say to him "OK, go. I'm staying here." He never went, and they stayed married till the day he died. I hope you are drawing similar strength from your meetings.

Good going ANB3...you were meant to go to that meeting, weren't you?
Funny how things work out sometimes. I was annoyed thinking my H was going off fishing for the weekend with a divorced fella from work. I thought great, he'll tell H how good it is to be divorced. Mulled on this for about a day, and THEN it hit me....No-one is going to say that to anyone else. Even my divorced girlfriend, who is quite happy with her new life, says divorce and all it brought was the pits.
So sometimes I think the higher powers intervene. If my h is looking for support from his buddy, I don't think he'll get the kind he thinks he wants. Hopefully...and also this guy has never talked about his x, kids or anything personal the whole time they've worked together, so I don't think it was a good experience for him. Well....maybe I'm jumping to dumb conclusions, but I don't know about these higher powers, they work in mysterious ways.
