My selfish and self serving ex has finally decided to betray the two innocents in our relationship and now I find myself in the desperate situation of looking for a home for our two cats. I would take them myself but I already took one of our three with me when I left for NY(she's staying with my mother) and being that I am essentially homeless I cannot take on two more. The ex's GF is allergic to them and so I'm sure that's the reason they are being abandoned.
Does anyone who lives in VA know of a no-kill shelter or family who would be interested in adopting them? Both are beautiful animals with wonderfully sweet dispositions and are people friendly.
Pyewacket is a domestic short-hair, grey, brown and black. Around 7 years old. Grisselfritz is a Maine [censored], about 4 years old.
I can't stop crying as I type this, of all the things I know that my ex is capable of this I thought he was not and wasn't capable of hurting them. I was wrong and there's very little I can do considering my situation. I feel like I'm abandoning my kids almost.

(((((Nduli2))))),
I am SO sorry!
If I was closer I'd tell you to bring them on over, I ALWAYS have room at the inn! A domestic and you have a Maine [censored]? What a beautiful breed Maine [censored]'s are! I'm crying right here with you! My x kept my two dogs (since gone to doggie heaven due to age 11 & 14) from me in 1998 for 4 months and I thought it was going to kill me.
I now have 2 cats, 3 yr calico & 2 yr. grey tabby., aquired a Golden Retriever 7 yrs. and a puppy, 1/2 German Shorthair 1/2 German Wirehair Pointer who is 12 weeks old tomorrow. All female. Oh yes, and 2 fish.
I wish you could put them on a plane to me today! This just breaks my heart!
(((((HUGS)))))
Gayle
ragamuffin@dogmail.com

[This message has been edited by Ragamuffin (edited August 13, 2001).]

Thank you. I'm not dealing with this well at all. They were our "family" and how can he do this? They're completely innocent in all of this and do not deserve to be abandoned. I was assured when I left that the two I were leaving behind would stay with him because he cared for him and now this.
Both of them are so attached to us and the Maine [censored] adored him and used to wait by the door every evening for him to come home from work and would practically do back flips when he walked in the door. How can this man live with himself, he hurts everything he touches, I swear. God, right now I hate him and can't imagine why I ever cared for such a heartless, piece of crap. It's one thing to hurt me, I can take care of myself, it's another to hurt two creatures who can't do anything but depend on you.I'm sickened by him.
I'm probably going to end up having to go back down there and get them back and place them myself. I don't trust him to do the right thing. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif)

Nduli,
I'm so sorry to hear about your kitties. Is there anyone who can take them in temporarily until you get settled? At one time I looked into flying my cats cross country. I was told it would cost about 170/cat. Kind of high but if it saves their lives....
I too would take them in, but i'm at my parents with 2 dogs and 2 cats. They'd never agree.
Maybe start asking around to anyone you know. Especially the local vets, they might be able to help. Also, try Petsmart. I adopted my cats from there and they have different organizations that provide homes for cats.
good luck and keep us posted.
k

I'm from Virginia...and I have four cats, and a dog...but I live in Illinois since I did what the Bible said, and left my family for my wife...oops, she left me, now what? Too bad I couldn't get a country music song out of that!
My family lives waaaay up north on route 7, on the WVA border...I'm not exactly certain what their current cat count is, but it was down the last time I asked...I could put you together with my sister if you'd like...she could probably get them in safe places for you. What do you think?
I am sorry for your situation...I am struggling with the responsibility of my animals now, too. Oddly enough, they seem very healthy, much more so than before my wife left. I still feel that I should get rid of them...especially now that I work, but I only work a block away from home...and never go anywhere to speak of, except to the store. (same one I work in...great!)
I will say that, although they are a bit of a load at times...it helps to have their routine, and they do respond to the care with love. I think the dog actually respects me, but its hard to tell, since she is a beagle...not the most submissive animals on the planet, and my son has been inconsistent in her training. It is taking time to establish a routine of good behavior versus whatever she wants to do...mirrors the other thing well, except the dogs actually listens most of the time, and seems sorry when she transgresses...today, when I got homw from work, she met me at the door...very contrite. I thought she had been unable to wait to go outside since I worked 10 hours last night. No, she had 'eaten' a cardboard pizza tray out of the trash...my bad for leaving it where she could get it. At least she didn't dump the whle thing like the last oh, 25 times or so...who's not learning here again? ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif) -Mike
BTW IMG doesn't work...use this:
Your image
Its the same thing, but the url tag insteag of the img tag....the link will open a new window with just the image...too bad, but images slow servers down, and people don't realize that.
[This message has been edited by waiting_for_her (edited August 13, 2001).]
