Perhaps I should clarify. I did not give enough details. Based on my actions, my doctor felt that I may have been manic. I was always up and down. Very impulsive. It was for this reason he thought that I was perhaps self-medicating in the sense that the alcohol, leveled me out of the highs. It calmed me and gave me a sense of be a level individual. I do agree that anyone who has problems while drinking should run from it. I have come to that conclusion as well. I do not want it and have zero desire to partake in its consumption. Too many problems, too many hurts. I am resolved to meet life head on with God. I am finding that I can make it. Alcohol was an out and kept me from dealing with things that needed to be dealt with it. It numbed the pain. My doctor has been in the field of substance abuse for eons. It was never a denial of a drinking problem. Labels do nothing. Only the individual can reach a conclusion. I have concluded that alcohol hurts many more people than it helps. This is more of a logical conclusion based on my experience. I have been looking around (sober) and see how truly destructive it has been in many peoples lives.
Thanks for setting me straight. It also didnt help that I was taking two anti-ds and drinking. Talking about screwed up! I was one basket case. I am loving life today and enjoying things I had forgotten could be so fulfilling.
R
