WIFTY,
I know you were only being funny but my suggestion to this post would be delete the text and just say never mind. This is a very painful subject to us all.
ANNA

WIFTTy, you try something like that and we'll have to appoint a treasurer and take up a collection to bail you out of jail.

For those of you who don't really know me,
I can come up with some pretty good pranks, but I seldom execute them. And yes, it was just in jest, but it does represent some underlying feelings of playing with X's mind as she has done with mine, as well as with our kid's minds. she's a pretty disordered person IMO.
I never even considered executing this prank,
in fact, i have conjured up some good innocent pranks that I have never done.
I love the creation of pranks, but i seldom carry them out.
Now, for the legalists, I never mentioned
anthrax, it is all conjured up in the mind.
I never threatened anyone, i only left it to the imagination. so you can all stop worrying and admonishing me. I know the prank is inappropriate, and that is why the farthest I got is just suggesting it and asking for responses.
Anne, narcissistic?? well, good luck, it will take alot of time to reverse years of being spoiled rotten.
yeah, throw me the web site, and i wouldn't mind doing some reading. . . . thanks
tom

Tom,
LOL - he said to our marriage counselor in response to my feeling unappreciated and unsupported in my efforts to fulfill my creative streak and make Halloween costumes for the boys:
Well, it never occurred to me that I should be appreciative for something that didn't directly benefit me....
My personal counselor laughed so hard she almost split her gut - she said it was so classic of his egocentricity to never think of anyone else's needs. She hopes the new counselor picked up on it - H went in saying he had no "issues". (other than what's wrong with me for not being his personal wish fulfillment genie)
Gee that sounds awful bitter and hopeless, doesn't it. Do you have any spare talcum???
the web site is here. It has given me a lot of tools to deal with "crazymaking" behaviors.
Anne
What are your kids going to be this year???
I have a T-Rex and Batman!!!

Tom,
You're a nice guy and I like you, but the timing is a little off. Send the card, but instead of powder, send two paper clips (one large, one small) and a rubber band.
Take the large paper clip and unbend it and make it look like a small bow. Stretch the rubber band between the two ends. Then clip the small one in the middle of the rubber band and wind it up. Slip the contraption into the envelop so when she opens it, it undwinds by itself. It will scare the heck out of her, but it is harmless, and it won't be necessary for you to go to jail.

It's actually something a lot more serious, in which the narcissist's consciousness of his independent self is so tenuous that he must construct an artificial self-image and hold onto it as if his very life depended on it. Anything that threatens this self-image is literally perceived as life-threatening.
I am grossly over-simplifying, but the important point is that appropriate responses and treatment for a narcissist are not the same as appropriate responses for someone who is merely self-centered.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
geez, you are so serious. . . . .
I guess i need to add a when i make offthecuff comments, such as that!
Bumperii,
geez, you are too nice! the timing is what is important here! and besides, I don't want to give the X anymore attention than I have to, i am in Plan B! any positive, nice attention may be construed that she is nice, or that i still like her. yuck!
so its either let her imagination scare her out of her wits and cause a little panic, or nothing!
Harlequin,
geez, you get it!
Well, we went to a medieval festival a couple of weeks ago, and 9 yo d loves to dress up, so i got her a low$ wench outfit, that consists of a skirt, blouse and belt. I am going with her as a medieval knight to protect her, and who knows what the 12 yo s is going as. . . he has the imagination of his mom,
and so I have to deal with one of those zero thinking, all feelings, multi-disordered, exxagerators where she just told me as the custodial parent with 75% of the time, "I don't get to see them either during the week! <even though she has them in the morning and after school, through dinner and studying in the evening. . . > so what's a down-to-earth, realistic person to say to someone who just says anything or doesn't make any sense, or just doesn't comprehend this world?
pass the talcum powder please!!
The real question is, "would the imagined event be a trick or a treat?"
[ October 17, 2001: Message edited by: WhenIfindthetime ]

Well, Tom,
That's what the sight helped me with. Learning that they don't live in your reality, and like GDP said defend their position and their reality with brutal efficiency, you can kind of see their stuff as yucky and let THEM own it.
Of course it doesn't help with the kids and her being unfair. But it might help you to get rid of THE KIDS button that she pushes. I bet she knows it upsets you and she says those odd things just to get you off-balance....
What do you think???
Anne
