Hi all,
Jacky has a great thread here.
I have a suggestion. Since people are curious and we usually give out the info anyway. What if we put where we are from and/or our email address in the signature area. Is this too much information in that area?
What's your opinion on that?
ANNA

Hello! Well, I'm living in the West 'burbs of Chicago! Just moved here from living for the past six years in Romania... actually the heart of Transylvania was our home! No, we never saw dracula (tee hee) just his castle. Cheers! Good morning, all. I'm a cheesehead by birth and temperment (born and raised in Milwaukee, WI), but I've lived in Minneapolis, MN now for 10 years. Since the Vikings beat the Packers 35-13 yesterday, this is not a good day to be in this particular position.

I miss some of the things like.. the state fair, summerfest.

Oh, don't get me started! Usinger's bratwurst. Serb Hall fish fry. Walking to County Stadium (I lived in Wauwatosa, and it wasn't that long of a walk for my then-teenaged legs). The Milwaukee Rep Theater. Watching the sailboats on Lake Michigan. John Hawk's pub.
Hell, sometimes I even miss the smell of the alewives.
I haven't lived there now in 20 years, but I still go back regularly (my mom and older brother both live there), and I always feel refreshed.
I still talk backwards, the way the Germans do- "around the corner is the house," rather than "the house is around the corner." And I say things like "I went down by (wherever)" and the Norskes up here look at me like I'm crazy. At least I don't say "uff-da."
Always glad to hear from a fellow cheesehead. I hope you get a chance to visit the old country soon; I'm only a short drive away, and every day since my wife told me she wanted to leave, I've wished I was nearer my family. I imagine it's even more difficult on you, being two time zones away from family.
Good luck to you. Add "@yahoo.com" to my MB name if you want to e-mail me more Beertown reminiscences.
