I've done a really dumb thing I think. But first, a refresher. My H and I have now been separated for 2 months. (He's the alcoholic who gave my son whiskey & coke to drink.) He still wants custody, and we are still in the divorce battle, but things are a little better. My son is still with me, temporary orders keep him with me. Court ordered NO ALCOHOL around son, H had a hard time accepting that. H refuses to admit he's got a problem. He had son last weekend, however, son came home Sat. (H had to work), H to pick him back up late afternoon. H showed up quite late (son had fallen asleep) so H wanted to talk to me. He had been drinking, but wasn't drunk. We talked for several hours, H cried, I cried, he said he was sorry for hurting us, and did I think we could ever work this mess out. I couldn't answer. To make a long story short, he ended up spending the night, and was his old, sober self the next day. He & son had a good day together. I left them alone for the afternoon, when I came back H wanted to cook ME dinner. That was a big, big surprise. (He did mention a couple of times that "a beer sure would be good right now". I couldn't tell if he was serious or just trying to joke with me. <P>Now what do I do? I have to admit I still love him. But, I don't believe I could ever trust him. He still refuses to go to counseling. I go alone. Part of me says "try to work it out" but then the rational side of me says "he'll never change - you'd be a big fool to get back together with him". I have been praying about this situation ever since Sun. night. No answer. I know that God wants a marriage to be reconciled if at all possible, but I don't think God wants me to be hurt and suffer the way I did for so many years. My son doesn't understand whats going on. Neither do I. If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for listening.
