I have been separated from my wife for 2 months now. We were married 3 years with a 2 year old son.
I moved out of the house because we were arguing alot in front of our son and I thought it would be best if we separated. She filed for legal separation and it will become official on Jan. 4th.
I moved out thinking 6 months would be a good amount of time to step back and consider the mistakes I made, in hopes to later reconcile and save our marriage.
She is now seeing someone and at this point reconciliation is not possible. I am deathly afraid that in another 4 months her new relationship will make it impossible. She has been very fair with allowing me visitation, and with the distribution of our assets etc. but I am scared to death to think that it's too late, and the new guy is going to steal my wife away from me.
I know I made many mistakes, and treated her like dirt sometimes, but the last two months have allowed me to realize this and I was hoping to make a new beginning in a few months, with a new attitude and appreciation of marriage.
My emotions are all over the place right now and I have no clue what I should do at this point. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

While you are doing all this reading, you should move back into your house if you can. Why should you be the one to move out if you don't want to separate? If your W really doesn't want to live in the same hosue then she can move.
This advice goes along with Plan A - that you'll read about. It's much easier to Plan A when you live together rather than apart.
There should be a newcomers post a little further down the page that you should read to help orient you to this board. It will also get you started on the basic concepts of MB.
Try to Plan A, move back in and give W times to notice changes in you. You may also want to get some counseling. You can go to the radio link on thise site and call in to the radio show airing every Mon. 1pm CST and speak to Bill Harley himself. It's worth the call. GOod Luck and be patient. K

Moving back in is not an option. We had agreed that I would move out so our son could stay in familiar surroundings.
It's not that I don't want the separation, but I wanted it only to take a step back and re-evaluate our marriage. She is moving on and already involved with someone else, so I'm afraid reconciliation will no longer be an option in a few more months.

One thing I should point out:
Last night my W wanted to pick up my son instead of having me drop him off (was my night for visitation) because she claimed she had errands to do and it would be easier.
I suspected something was up so I drove by the W's house and saw a new truck parked in front - OM After she had picked my son up I waited a few minutes and drove back by the W's house again and saw the truck still parked there. I called her and told her I didn't appreciate the OM being there so soon after we had separated, as it might confuse our son.
She assured me that my son knows who his dad is, and she would never take that away from me. She also assured me that her and the OM were not intimate in front of our son, and he wasn't over there all the time.
So tonight I took myself to a movie, and on the way home I drove by the W house again... guess who's truck was parked out front? yep, the OM. I'm starting to see a pattern here.
Is it wrong for me to drive by and see if there is OM there while my son is there? Our separation is not even official yet, and the divorce counselor warned us of the dangers of introducing significant others so soon after a separation.
