Here is my story, I've been married for 5 months and it's been hell. I've wanted my husband for 9 years before we even started dating, now I've married the man of my dreams and my nightmare began. I discovered that I married a heroin addicted about 6 weeks after the wedding. It has been nothing but arguing about everything. His heroin use put us in debt (25000). We no lnger have any trust in our marriage. We went to councilling together, it didn't work we fought more and all I can say is I want a divorce. Unfortunately I still love him but I can't get over what he has done. He blames me for everything that goes wrong. He insults my family and friends. He puts me down all the time. I've tried to help him, but it's hard to help someone who thinks your lazy, stupid and a bunch of other names that are awful. Can someone please tell me why my husand stays with me if I'm such a horible person? He says if I don't want to be with leave. I can't because I have joint custody of my daughter and have no place to go that won't jeoperdize my custody. I feel stuck ad I don't know how to get out of it. I'm 25 years old,I didn't think my marriage would suck so much. BP77

In reading your post you are in a very mental oppressive relationship. Its not going to get any better, you're dealing with an Addict $25,000 in the hole in 5 months already means financial disaster to the marriage and emotions already. I would focus on working on how to be the parent to your kid(s) first and whats best for them as far as an environment, go to relatives, find friends, dont be ashamed of whats happening in your house expose it, tell someone close to you, its ok to say you MIGHT have married someone that had and secret dark side that came as a suprize...However you don't have to end your life because they want to, thats crazy!! Joint custody may end because you're around the Drugs you never know!!! If a Drug bust happens they're going to take the kids and you too....
Therefore tell someone close to you, find a safe place to stay that will work out for you, Your husband needs some serious help, his lover and partner is Drugs. Also long as you stay and approve of it, you are being an Enabler you are part financer of his habit, you must do something to say you're not going to accept that in your house or as part of your life....Good Luck!!

Also note, that if your previous EX - I'm assuming that's why you have joint custody of your daughter) finds out that she's in that environment, he may file for primary custody - and win. Courts don't like kids growing up around drugs.
Try to get some advice from an attorney about this, and work on getting yourself in a position where you can be self sufficient and divroce if you have to. Sometimes you can jsut go to court and get a separate property agreement so that your husband's debt is not your debt.
You need to protect yourself from this. It's illegal and H sounds like he's out of control.
