Bill wroted from this in a recent thread and it touched my heart what he wrote. I also have gained much strength from these words so I'm posting them with a prayer that they touch someone else's life here today!
God bless you all! PP

GOD SAID NO
I asked God to take away my pain. God said, No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No. Her spirit was whole, her body was only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a by-product of tribulations, it isn't granted, it is earned.
I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings, Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No. You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.
I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as he loves me. God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

Lynn,
Thank you so much for posting this. Someone posted it long ago and I keep wanting to do it but never did. I have that printed on fancy paper hanging over my desk and I read it every day as a constant reminder.
But for some reason my list has one more on top that I think is probably one of the most important ones:
""I asked God to send me his friends...He sent you.""
It's quite amazing looking back over the past year, it seems that just when I needed someone, they were there. I new contact from the site. Someone giving me an e-mail for correspondance. Someone giving me their instant messenger. Someone giving me a phone number to talk in person. All these things have come when my strength was low and I truly believe that each of them was a gift from Him.
Thank you and God bless you......
