I have seen treads posted on one board and the same person post on a different board altering facts about their relationship and situation. My question is, should we alert this person to the fact that when there posts are deceptive that the responses to their post are based on deception and my not be in their best interest? This particular person seemed to be using this forum for chat an entertainment more than anything else. Any ideas?
------------------
Scott

You can certainly contact the administrator and alert them, but I'd suggest that you post to the person directly and ask them about it. That's the first line. If they're truly an "imposter" that finds this fun, they're likely to quit when discovered.
I haven't noticed anything.

K, The post that I was referring to was one you replied back to Lisam on the infidelity board on 1-12. Being an impostor is not the best way to describe this situation but there certainly are differences compared to her post in her post in “other topics” on 1-10. My point is that until we are honest with ourselves when can not be very successful in resolving conflicts. Posting misleading information will not produce constructive responses. I that this forum seriously and hope that others do also.
Thanks for your response

Scott:
I think I see your point. Lisa will get different opinions based on what she reveals, and they may conflict and cause her trouble. So from her standpoint, it helps for her to try to put a consistant spin on the story.
On the other hand, it shouldn't interfer with responses (unless people are being widely inconstant with their responses). For instance, these two threads have produced much different opinions, but I wouldn't say that because of that they're valueless. They're both pretty constructive threads. I try to be the hallmark of consistancy---after a couple thousand posts, you tend to get that way... ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
And yes, if you're not honest with yourself, then that's a major issue with EVERYTHING that you'll do.
I'd say that the majority of the people here are pretty serious about the advice they give (and get). I've been here for almost a year and a half, and I've been very impressed with the quality of this site, both in the forum and the other areas. It's a great benefit to a lot of people.

I often find threads started by the same person on the same topic on different boards. I usually don't repsond to to more then one thread or if I do I point out that thye are telling different stories on another board. I have also confronted folks that post repeatedly the questions even after many people have replied and given good advice. Usually these people are looking for the answer they want to hear. The last time I posted a reply to such a person I linked my post back to their original thread and next thing I knew the new thread was gone. Not sure why. So yes I agree with K if someone is posting inconsistant stories talk to Them about why they are doing so.
