I seem to have tons of time on my hands lately, so I'll bite. I will use my Excel Spreadsheet knowledge to start a little list with names of available people. We should probably have some ground rules? Anyone? This is something I can do personally off the board here, I'm not exactly sure how appropriate it would be to have a thread like this...
Anyway, if you are divorced or soon to be divorced and have done your best to make the marriage work (cause that is the kind of person any of us would like to date), email me at elizabethwilkie@yahoo.com and if you match a member of the opposite sex as far as general geographic area I'll hook ya up by email and the rest will be up to y'all.
Let's keep it to MB people, because if we start adding your second cousins neighbor I will have to start feeding my children pb&j 3x a day.
Comments? Ideas? Think this is a bad idea? I am so not sensitive anymore that it wouldn't even pinch.
P.S. If any male in the midwest looks especially tasty I reserve the right to first dibs.
[ February 08, 2002: Message edited by: justthewife ]

JTW,
It's a very sweet idea. Here's some things to think about though.
1. There are a few people who come on MB with the wrong purpose of just trying to find dates, this may increase if someone actually offered to help them.
2. I would be concerned by getting involved I might match some nut with someone who is still very vulnerable. Even though they are both adults, I don't think I'd want to be in the middle, or the one who matched them up.
3. I would be concerned it may turn MB into something it's not, and I'd be a part of that.
It's your choice of course, but there are a lot of reasons I would have some concerns about matching people.
Take care,
ANNA

Good concerns Anna, that is why I figured it would be inappropriate for a thread. Do you really think people come here looking for dates?! I have been around the GQ and Recovery boards since sept '00 and never experienced that. New here though so maybe that's why. Gross. I am amazed at what people will do to get a little.

Hi!
I kinda agree with Anna2000. As tempting as it is to think that most MB veterans would make good mates, or should be introduced to each other, it may not be appropriate and I certainly wouldn't want to be in the middle. I think it's a good idea, but there may be a way this can happen without such direct involvement.
Most of the people in the Divorced forum are....well....divorced or heading there. Yes, we've given it our all to try to restore our marriages. But sometimes things happen that we have no control over.
So my suggestion is to add to your signature information, your state/city, age, etc. (But not necessarily a personal ad, per se). But if you list your general location, then if someone from this board is in the same area and interested, they can just take that step of getting in touch with you, without a middle person trying to coordinate it. They can also tell how long you've been separated/divorced and take that information into account. And they have the pre-advantage of "getting to know you" a bit thru general conversation/posts, instead of one-on-one e-mails, etc.
What do ya think of that idea? Anyway, just another option.
Aloha,
